Navigating Hell....Choices of path and direction

Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here. Be Amazed At The Maze.

That is the opening sentence to the description of the maze in Second Life called "Hell" (Glenmore 118, 120, 55).

A maze may be defined as:
  1. A wild fancy; a confused notion.
  2. Confusion of thought; perplexity; uncertainty; state of bewilderment.
  3. A confusing and baffling network, as of paths or passages; an intricacy; a labyrinth.
I had the pleasure of going through "Hell" with a dear friend. As we found ourselves twisting and turning through the brightly colored textures...we had to make choices of direction in order to find the exit. We encountered things that were weird, funny, and some times down right scary. A few times, we were mislead and found ourselves back at the beginning only to begin again. I found myself at one point having to make a choice between two doors. It made me recall the old story of the Lady or the Tiger. If I choose door "A", would I move forward in my quest?....or door "B", will I be eaten by a "tiger"?

Afterwards I found myself contemplating how this adventure directly related to my existence in Second Life.
The path may be structured and pre-determined through prims and sims but the traveler must choose which road to travel and with whom. To the unsuspecting traveler, Second Life can leave one confused and bewildered...unsure of which path to take. It is a maze...a whole new world... fraught with as many pitfalls and misleads as the real world; where one must be wary about where they meander....lest they may meet the lady...or the tiger.
